Great question. Did many of you know that Husky Head Football Coach, Steve Sarkisian is actually a government employee. And not only is he an employee, he is currently the highest paid state employee.

In a year of economic downturn, politicians nationwide are asking us the loyal tax payer to tighten up our belts and be prepared to do with less. Yet Congress voted to receive a cost of living increase for there "steller" performance. Wealth Daily's, Ian Cooper has a great article discussing congressional pay. Now just when we in Seattle thought our politicians couldn't stoop to any lower lows, we hear today courtesy of the Seattle Times, that The Port of Seattle is deciding whether or not to go ahead with a 10% raise for its Port CEO Tay Yoshitani. I find myself having the urge to vomit every time I hear a "public servant" ( I use that term very loosely) getting another wage increase. I think the key word that is misused is servant. What happened to the era of people going into city and local political positions because they wanted to make a difference. With the soon to be highest paid Port CEO in the country we have to wonder where that servanthood went. As a firefighter locally in the King County area, I get paid a fair wage and work hard for it, sacrificing my time and body to help the community. Can we really say the same for many of our highest paid local government employees. Some will argue, that the government employees getting paid what they do, is fair because they are only being payed what they are worth Yet in government where the politicians decide there own pay how can this be a substantiated fact. With lobbying and back door handshake agreements how can we trust the decisions our politicians are making on our behalf? Do you ever remember voting to increase Governor Christine Gregoire's Salary after hearing about our huge budget shortfall. Or after looking at the sorry state of Washington's local roads did we vote to increase WSDOT Employee Wages. Absolutely not. I know this is a bit hypothetical but it begs the question. Anyone have a thought or fact on this topic?

State Base Wages (Top Paid State Employees Minus Bonuses)

Interesting Article On What We Pay Our Government Employee's

Port CEO Article Courtesy of the Seattle Times

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://waconservatives.blogspot.com/2009/09/port-chief-highest-paid-in-country-when.html' title='Port Chief Highest Paid In The Country??? After posting the undercover video's online and getting air time on Sean Hannity's Fox News Program, ACORN and its suspect practices have been brought to light again. Thanks to Biggovernment.com and Andrew Breitbart ACORN can no longer claim that conservatives are coming after them because of race or other absurd reasons. After receiving over $54,000,000 from the federal government in recent years should we expect that ACORN will get investigated thoroughly and to the fullest extent of the law. Or will this be another case of politics as usual, with a hand slap and under the table agreements.

Follow the link to view the undercover video's and let me know what you think.

Link to ACORN Undercover Video's

Has anyone been to, or had dealings with the local Seattle ACORN affiliate. In an era of technology and amazing health advances, most created here in the USA, why not take a look at other ways to save money. Many on the hill have suggested Tort Reform. Doctor's and healthcare providers nationwide have mentioned that almost 30% of their costs are due to frivolous lawsuits. Why not reform our legal and judicial system in regards to healthcare and the frivolous lawsuits that are taking place daily. Thats right I hate to say one man's praises so much but all of the Obama fans are used to doing that on a regular basis. But once again Governor Bobby Jindal is in the news, and once again its a good thing he is. According to the Louisiana workforce commission, the jobless rate decreased and Louisiana actually had an increase in employement by over 6,000 jobs. How did Bobby and the state do this you might ask? LOWERED TAXES. In another related story Joe Biden claims that Bobby Jindal doesn't know how to handle his own state's economic crisis, in yet another misspoken mistake by Joe Biden. He says, "But what I don't understand from Governor Jindal is what would he do?...in Louisiana there's 400 people a day losing their jobs, what's he doing?" asks Joe Biden while on the Early Show. See the second article link below for more information on this story. Sadly this and many other blunders by Vice President Biden get overlooked by the main stream media, yet Sarah Palin can't tie her shoes without getting critisized. Why haven't we heard more about this. If they are only a community group then why did Barack Obama just approve over Four Billion Dollars of our stimulus money to go to funding ACORN. This is the side of politics and politicians that makes me sick, and not able to sleep at night. I hope you all take this seriously, because these types of groups are shaping our kids and communities for tomorrow. Take a look at the Fraud Map below it shows the states and times where ACORN has been involved in questionable activities. He went on to say, "that governors and lawmakers should not lose perspective on the package. He said the subject of debate composes just a "fraction" of the overall plan." Whats interesting to me is that a President so bent on "bringing back integrity to the Whitehouse" would scold conservative leaders for asking the question about how our tax payer dollars are being spent, now that they have had time to read the fine print on the spendulous bill. One of the so called "Fractions" being spent is going to a small little innocent community group called Acorn. Little do most people know that they have been indicted in 14 states for possibly election tampering charges, many in key swing states during the election. The New york post is reporting that, "Ohio election officials said 8,700 of the 73,000 voter registrations turned in by ACORN - an astounding 12 percent - were questionable.". Folks this is just the tip of a very large iceberg. In the latest edition of wasteful government spending Obama has allocated over $4,000,000,000.00 (thats billions folks) for controversial "Community Groups" such as and most notably ACORN. I believe this is a small example of Mr. Obama saying one thing and doing another. He stated in his election run that he wanted to clean up Washington, but this is a far cry from that. Read below to get informed. I also took the liberty of using The New York Post as one of my sources. Many would ask why? I think its important to notice that even some of the most staunch liberal media outlets can't hide this type of information from us any longer.

NY Post Article On Acorn Stimulus "Bribe"

ACORN Campaiging Pays Off, Literally Pays Off

Harry's Train To Nowhere

Senator Harry Reid of Nevada a staunch democrat, has been exposed recently for asking for and receiving over 8 Billion Dollars of our hard earned & soon to be taxed "Stimulus" Dollars for his pet project. A High Speed Monorail from L.A. to Las Vegas. Does this sound like economic stimulus to anyone? Read about the current Las Vegas Monorail and you will understand why they need more of our money. They are currently running at 50% capacity and are losing money day after day. Sounds like another great Democratic Stimulus Idea. See article about Pork Barrel Spending if none of this makes sense.

Read About Harry's Train To Nowhere

Some States May Turn Down "Stimulus" Check

In the era of free fall government deficit spending, there are a few Leaders actually standing up to the miss use of public funds. Some governors lately have gone on record as stating they do not want to accept govt. money that they have no resources to pay back in the future. Curious as to why they might turn down this "free" money, read the articles below and get informed. Do you think your state elected officials should accept "bailout" money with strings attached? Also an interesting article on Sarah Palin and the economic state of Alaska, which has faired much better than most states in the recession.

Alabama Ready to Weather the Storm:

Tennessee Ready to Weather the Storm:

State's Contemplating Stimulus Fund Use:

#2 Article

Jindahl Says No To Bailout, So Far:

Sarah Palin Article:

Is the Fairness Doctrine Really Fair??

What is the "Fairness Doctrine" we are hearing so much about lately in the mainstream media, and how would enacting this doctrine affect us positively? The short answer is that this would in essence force talk radio stations to have equal air time for Liberal and Conservative Talk Shows. Remember this is specifically aimed at Conservative Talk Radio by taking popular money making stations and forcing them to give equal air time to others that the public hadn't to this point wanted to hear. Aren't we a democracy and don't we have the freedom to choose who we like and who we don't? If we didn't like Conservative Talk Radio, wouldn't the ratings and the marketplace dictate that? In fact it has and the numbers are astounding. As of the spring of 2007 of the 257 news/talk stations owned by the top five commercial station 91 percent of the total weekday talk radio programming is conservative, and 9 percent is progressive. Sounds like the customers have spoken. Believe me radio is run by advertising which is supported by people who listen to the programs. If Conservative Radio was un-popular and being forced onto people the numbers would be much different. Free Market Enterprise has spoken once again. Check the link below discussing the failed attempt at Liberal Talk Radio in none other than Washington D.C. Check the other links to learn more about the so called "Fairness Doctrine".

Liberal Talk Radio Fails Again!!

An Article Discussing "The Fairness Doctrine"

A Video Discussing "The Fairness Doctrine"

Political Honesty An Oxy-Moron

It is fair to say that politicians are driven by self interests just as the average human is. They are technically still a part of the same race. Unfortunately many politicians have learned political maneuvers to save there own hide thus we see the same politicians from year to year making the same mistakes saying the same lies. This section will help expose the lies and the politicians behind them.

#1: The Housing Crisis Was Created By George W. Bush

Many of us have never heard of the CRA or Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, but we should. It was created by Congress in 1977 under Carter as a result of national grassroots pressure from groups like ACORN and others to get low income families into their own homes. It was intended to loosen restrictions by lenders and encouraged them to "meet the credit needs of the communities in which they operate including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods". In essence the banking and lending institutions were forced to find creative ways to circumvent common lending practices to make credit available to "All Americans". What the mainstream media fails to mention is that the CRA Act of 1977, came under intense scrutiny during George Bush's time in office. President Bush saw the implications that lending to low income and poor credit buyers had, and wanted a complete overhaul of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. These actions were blocked by Congress, and most importantly Barney Frank (D), and Chris Dodd (D). Do they sound familiar. These men have come to the forefront in our current economic crisis. Follow the link for more info on the CRA Act of 1977.

Community Reinvestment Act of 1977

It's okay to have freedom of speech just as long as your a Democrat!

A man was pulled over last week for having an anti-Obama Bumper sticker on his car. As I sit in left-wing Washington State and stare at the millions of Obama stickers passing me by, I often contemplate how freedom of speech currently works. Its okay to have "Yes We Can" or "Is it 2009 Yet" or even my favorite, "Impeach Bush" but as soon as someone conservative heaven forbid speaks his/her mind its no longer okay. Is freedom of speech only acceptable if it fits in line with the mainstream media's view? Just food for thought. I have since this article gotten a bumper sticker of my own. :)

Anti Obama Sign Causes Controversial Police Stop

Porkbarrel Spending - What is it?

Many have heard the term pork-barrel spending, what does it mean and where does it come from.
